Report Annual National Australian Pekin Show 2004

at Maitland NSW July 24th 25th 2004
Judges
Geoff & Sandra Edards from Maryborough QLD Australia
Just
under 300 Pekins greeted our Queensland Judges at the Annual
Show in Maitland and the comments were all favourable in regard
to the outstanding quality of the Pekins exhibited. The Saturday
judging culminated in a Presentation Dinner on the grounds
in the evening
Major
awards went to Black Pekins owned by Allan Featherstone of
Maitland and an exceptional display of coloured Pekins was
benched and several breeders are really now specialising in
the different colours of Pekins with good results.
Geoff Edards, the Judge of the Open class commented as follows
”The Pekins were great and it was a pleasure to
be asked to Judge. We thank the Pekin Club of Australia for
the Invitation to Judge .Congratulations to the Club on a
great show ,Good luck for the future” Geoff spoke
of the major winners as follows ”of the Grand Champion
: A magnificent specimen & a true pekin who was trained
to perfection and a credit to his owner." Of the
Reserve Pekin "A very fresh hen put down to perfection,
stood out as a winner in a large class"
Sandra
Edards commented of the Novice “Major awards in
Novice, Good white Male bird prepared well and showing good
type, Reserve Champion –good Black female"
Junior
classes “Junior classes were reasonable but lack
of preparation held some birds back"
An
Annual Meeting & Election of Officers was held in conjunction
with the show and a special feature of the show this year
was specially printed and framed certificates with each Exhibitors
Section Champion on it that were completed on the day
Show
dates were set as the same weekend in July 2005 at the same
venue
