Show Report Annual National Australian Pekin Show 2004

Held at Maitland NSW July 24th 25th 2004

Judges Geoff & Sandra Edards from Maryborough QLD Australia

Just under 300 Pekins greeted our Queensland Judges at the Annual Show in Maitland and the comments were all favourable in regard to the outstanding quality of the Pekins exhibited. The Saturday judging culminated in a Presentation Dinner on the grounds in the evening

Major awards went to Black Pekins owned by Allan Featherstone of Maitland and an exceptional display of coloured Pekins was benched and several breeders are really now specialising in the different colours of Pekins with good results.

Geoff Edards, the Judge of the Open class commented as follows "The Pekins were great and it was a pleasure to be asked to Judge. We thank the Pekin Club of Australia for the Invitation to Judge .Congratulations to the Club on a great show ,Good luck for the future” Geoff spoke of the major winners as follows " of the Grand Champion : A magnificent specimen & a true pekin who was trained to perfection and a credit to his owner." Of the Reserve Pekin "A very fresh hen put down to perfection, stood out as a winner in a large class"

Sandra Edards commented of the Novice “Major awards in Novice, Good white Male bird prepared well and showing good type, Reserve Champion –good Black female"

Junior classes “Junior classes were reasonable but lack of preparation held some birds back"

An Annual Meeting & Election of Officers was held in conjunction with the show and a special feature of the show this year was specially printed and framed certificates with each Exhibitors Section Champion on it that were completed on the day
